What updates have SAPD, Crime Stoppers provided in deadly North Side hit-and-run?

San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to felony arrests in the Oct. 17 hit-and-run death of 33-year-old Juan Sabas Reyes on the North Side. The case remains open, and the driver of the white pickup truck that struck him has not been publicly identified.

What Happened on U.S. 281

Officers responded to the crash just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 17 in the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 281. Sabas Reyes was riding a motorcycle southbound when a white pickup truck struck him, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Police say the driver fled once emergency vehicles began arriving. Sabas Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that he died from blunt force injuries.

The Reward and How to Claim It

The figure that matters for anyone holding a useful detail: up to $5,000, payable by Crime Stoppers for information that leads to felony arrests in the case. The payout is tied to arrests, not to a conviction.

Tips can be submitted three ways. Call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP. Text “Tip 127 plus your tip” to CRIMES (274637). Or use the P3 Tips app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

What Investigators Have Released

No plate number, make, model or driver description has been made public. The driver’s decision to pull over and then leave as emergency crews arrived is the central detail police have highlighted in their appeal.

Investigators have not announced any arrests or named a person of interest. The public appeal is the department’s most recent update on the case.

Why the $5,000 Matters

In a hit-and-run with no named suspect, witness memory and private footage often do the work that physical evidence cannot. A $5,000 reward is designed to move someone who saw something, or who knows the truck, to make a call. The anonymity provision removes the most common reason people stay quiet.

Anyone with information about the crash, the truck or the driver’s whereabouts can reach Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP, by texting “Tip 127 plus your tip” to CRIMES (274637), or through the P3 Tips app.
