MUSKOGEE COUNTY, November 3, 2026 — A Muskogee County judge sentenced Cherie Walker, 34, to seven consecutive life terms on October 30 for enabling the sexual abuse of her 11-year-old daughter and neglecting six children in her care. The sentence followed a jury conviction on one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect.
The Discovery and Investigation
The case surfaced on August 16, 2025, when emergency crews responded to the Walker home and found an 11-year-old girl who had just given birth without prenatal care or medical assistance. DNA testing confirmed with 99 percent certainty that the baby’s father was Dustin Walker, the girl’s stepfather, according to Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson. Prosecutors said the home lacked running water and the victim had not seen a doctor in more than a year.
Conditions Inside the Home
Five other children, aged 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9, were found living in what court documents described as deplorable conditions. Authorities reported the children had no clothing and suffered from lice infestations. Hutson said the household left children without “even the ability to get a drink of water in the middle of the night.”
Dustin Walker’s Plea and Sentence
Dustin Walker pleaded guilty in March 2026 to one count of child sexual abuse of a child under 12 and six counts of child neglect. He received a life sentence for the sexual abuse charge plus 42 years for the neglect counts, and was ordered to register as a sex offender with no contact allowed with his victims.
Cherie Walker’s Trial and Conviction
Prosecutors argued Cherie Walker knew of the abuse but failed to intervene. Both parents initially claimed they were unaware the girl was pregnant, but prosecutors challenged that account, noting the victim delivered a full-term baby despite being “rather petite.” A jury found Cherie Walker guilty on all seven felony counts on July 17, 2026. Judge Timothy King imposed the seven consecutive life sentences in line with the jury’s recommendation.
Grandmother Charged
The victim’s maternal grandmother, Michelle Justus, faces six counts of child neglect. Prosecutors allege she knew of the sexual abuse occurring in the household but did nothing to stop it. Justus has denied knowledge of the pregnancy, telling reporters the girl “did not look pregnant.” She waived her right to a jury trial, leaving her case to be decided by a judge.
Legal Framework
Oklahoma law defines enabling child sexual abuse as causing or permitting the abuse by a parent or caregiver who knows or reasonably should know the child is at risk. Each enabling and neglect count carries a maximum penalty of life in prison, with no mandatory minimum. The statute allowed the judge to stack the seven life terms consecutively, ensuring Walker will spend the rest of her life in prison.
