Fremont, Ohio, August 18 — A Very Haunted Renovation, a new HGTV competition series, will begin its six-episode season on September 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The show will focus on Bihl Manor, a 19th-century mansion in Fremont described as “one of the most haunted homes in America.” Currently unoccupied and in disrepair, the property is set for a complete renovation over 31 days by six designers: SK Stokes Kennedy, Patrick Peel, John Ryan, Bershan Shaw, Logan Wright, and Diana Vogel. The competition, hosted by Anna Camp of Scream 7, offers a $50,000 cash prize.
Contestants will face elimination challenges designed to test their creativity and nerve while transforming the mansion’s “spine-tingling spaces.” The first episode will split participants into two teams of three for a bedroom design battle, with each group having four days to create a makeover inspired by the spirits of Lizzie and Alvie Bihl, rumored to haunt the home. Judges include production designer Hannah Beachler, paranormal investigator Jack Osbourne, actor Billy Porter, actress Cassandra Peterson, horror director Eli Roth, and actress LuLu Wilson.
Michel Smith Boyd, a design expert, will mentor the teams throughout the series. The show’s premise hinges on the mansion’s reputation as a site of paranormal activity, with Camp stating it has “never been brave enough to step foot inside — until now.” Viewers can preview the series through HGTV’s YouTube series Would You Buy This Haunted House?, starting September 11. This weekly program, hosted by psychic Steffi Hill, explores haunted homes and attempts to communicate with lingering spirits. A Very Haunted Renovation will stream on HBO Max the day after each episode’s premiere, beginning September 16.
The series is produced by Grandma’s House Entertainment. HGTV, owned by Warner Bros.
Discovery, reports the show will be available on its digital platforms, including social media channels and HGTV.com, which attracts five million monthly visitors. The network’s social footprint reaches 30 million users, with content distributed across Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube. The series aligns with HGTV’s focus on home transformation stories, blending entertainment with aspirational design content.
