PUNE, June 26 — The father of Siya Goyal, the woman accused of murdering her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, has said that if his daughter is found guilty, she should face the same fate as the victim. Praveen Goyal told India Today TV that she should be pushed off Lohagad Fort in Pune — the site where police allege Ketan was killed. Goyal’s statement is striking not just for its bluntness, but because he also admitted he still cannot believe the allegations against his daughter.
The shock of her arrest, he said, landed him in the ICU. “I still find it impossible to believe my daughter could do something like this,” he said.
Yet he maintained that if found guilty, she should be given the harshest punishment without delay. The case has drawn intense scrutiny since Pune Police alleged that Siya and an accomplice, Chetan, planned the crime. According to investigators, Siya refused to call off her engagement to Ketan for fear of bringing shame to her family, and the two allegedly plotted the murder together.
Siya’s parents have pushed back against suggestions they saw trouble coming. Her mother, Pooja Goyal, said there were no warning signs.
The couple used to video call each other, met regularly, and appeared happy together, she said. To counter claims that Siya was unwilling to marry Ketan, Pooja pointed to the money the family had spent on wedding shopping and a pre-wedding trip to Bali. The Goyal family also denied allegations from Ketan’s father that they had hidden facts.
Praveen described his daughter as a simple girl who was excited about her upcoming wedding. The investigation into Ketan’s murder remains ongoing. Police have not yet disclosed the full evidentiary picture, but the father’s public call for the harshest possible penalty — even if it means his own daughter — adds an unusual dimension to an already grim case.
For now, the question that lingers is whether the evidence will match the allegations, and whether a father’s words will prove prophetic or premature.
