Bikaner, June 10 — Six women who underwent caesarean deliveries at the PBM Hospital in Rajasthan’s Bikaner have developed serious health complications, including kidney-related issues, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

Principal of Sardar Patel Medical College, Dr Surendra Verma, said that some women reported health complications following delivery and are currently under treatment by specialist doctors. The exact cause of the complications can be ascertained only after the probe committee submits its report, he added.

Dr Verma emphasized that the priority is to ensure proper treatment and recovery of all patients.

Hospital Superintendent Dr B C Ghiya said continuous monitoring of all the patients is being carried out and teams from the nephrology, gynaecology, and medicine departments are jointly treating them. Some patients required dialysis, which is being conducted regularly, he said.

Professor of Nephrology Jitendra Falodiya said the patients are under expert care and necessary medical support is being provided.

The hospital is taking all necessary measures to ensure the patients receive the best possible treatment, he added. The patients are being closely monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU), and their condition is being constantly reviewed by the medical team. Relatives of the patients expressed concern, alleging that the women’s condition deteriorated suddenly after initially appearing stable post-delivery.

They were normal after delivery but later started facing issues like reduced urine output and other complications, said Lekhram, a relative of one of the patients. The relatives are demanding a fair inquiry to determine the cause of the complications and prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

A detailed medical investigation is underway, and further action will be taken based on the findings, according to Dr Ghiya.

The probe committee will investigate the cause of the complications and submit its report, which will help in determining the next course of action. Dr Verma’s statement that the priority is to ensure proper treatment and recovery of all patients is a reassuring one, and it is hoped that the patients will recover soon.

The medical team at the hospital is working tirelessly to provide the best possible care to the patients, and their efforts are commendable. As the investigation continues, it is essential to wait for the report to determine the cause of the complications and the actions that will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. The focus for now should be on the recovery of the patients and ensuring that they receive the best possible care.
