Malaysian hygiene product manufacturers are struggling to meet global demand for disinfectants, hand sanitizers, and rubber gloves amid COVID-19. Supply chain disruptions from China have limited critical ingredient availability, preventing producers from scaling up production to address worldwide needs.

The World Health Organization (WHO) maintains its 14-day quarantine recommendation for the novel coronavirus, despite a Chinese study suggesting a potential 24-day incubation period. WHO's Dr. Michael Ryan emphasized that longer incubation periods might result from "double exposure" and require further investigation before changing existing guidelines.

The novel coronavirus has exceeded SARS fatalities, with 1,016 deaths reported in mainland China. On February 10, China recorded its highest daily death toll of 108. Health experts continue to emphasize prevention methods and call for decisive measures to control the spread of the virus.
